I Know How the Sun Feels

sun says

she's left out of the fold

a third wheel

whose light caresses

over their faces

even though she,

ninety-three million

miles away,

watches them waltz

their way around

and she can never join

for she is the thing

that earth and moon orbit

but never to be touched

by a lover's kiss

or know the scent of air

the sun

knows the cold
