Rats Don't Wear Pajamas

I offer this, read it

or not.

Days don’t have time, can't give time.

Open weave baskets pretend

to carry water.

Good ends drowned long ago.

When morning turns

tardy on the pier,

first light's wildness wore thin.

Cheap slippers and the first

bedtime rituals—

nightclothes in the hamper.
