Completely Wrung Out

We worshed clothes

in a wringer worsher

a big leap

from rough worshboards,

but they brought

a bit of danger

— if you caught

your hair, fingers,

or hands in the wringers

going around.

Fabric flattened,

buttons broke.

When the flame

of the candle wick

burns out,

there is no more light.
